on saturday march the 4th we had 3 students compete in this years childrens open championships up in penrith cumbria , cory giles 8 years old , aaliyah wilet 8 years old , and daniel williams - booth 6 years old , this was a very good standard tournament well attended with competeters from as far as MALTA all 3 students competed well in both kata and kumite daniel williams - booth performing only in his 2nd tournament in an under 12s catergory going out 2 - 1 but performing a new kata for the first time also fighting again against much bigger oppenents , aaliyah wiley very unlucky in the kata under 12s event getting to the quter finals in her graded event and in the black and brown belt event going out in the first round 4 - 1 but to the silver medalist at 2011 british championships in kumite lossing 5 - 3 only to a head kick in the last seconds of the bout , cory giles lossing in the vfirst round of the black and brown belt event 3 - 2 to a much higher grade and 11 year old british medalist in his graded event picking up a bronze medal beating 2 competers from malta and unlucky to lose 2 - 1 in the semi finals in the kumite event loseing 2 - 0 to the event winner from scotland , well done to all 3 competers this was a great effort from them and there families for there support this is a tournament all ready on the calender for 2013 , points are now on the tournament league also aaliyah and cory competed in the pairs kata event loseing to a team from malta but this was the first time in this event and great exsperiance for all students GREAT TOURNAMENT |

We had a squad of 12 members make the trip up to dudley to compete in the first of 3 tournaments there in 2012 this was a very good and high standard of competion for our guys this was the first tournament for 2012 with 4 of our squad all competing for the very first time , we had 12 members in total and 7 members were only 8 years old or under here is a full list of medals and competers ;
7 MEDALS WON IN TOTAL
KATA ; 2 x 1st , cory giles - 10 years mixed 1st , st pats team kata 10 and under years 1st aaliyah wiley , cory giles , aminul islam
KUMITE ; 1 x 1st , aaliyah wiley - 10 years - 27kgs ,
1 x 2nd , rob green veterns 40 yrs +
3 x 3rd , robert green jnr - 75kgs mens kumite , cory giles + rhys bulmer - 10 yrs - 27kgs
Also a very BIG EFFORT from daniel green , fahanna islam , daniel williams-booth , dylan howells , ryan howells , ioan bulmer , aled rhys-jones
we would like to thank all parents that helped out on the day with traveling and encouraging and supporting all the team on the day there are now up dates on the medal history and also the tournament league for 2012 also the team league check it out on the web site NEXT TOURNAMENT CUMBRIA MARCH 4TH |

st pats karate club hold a summer camp dureing the summer holidays this has been running for 4 years
since 2008 and has been a great success every year the club is held at st pauls church hall in paget street
grangetown from 10 - 3pm every week day for 1 week , during this time at the club the children just
have lots of fun and meet new friends they also play lots of games and do lotts of events , football , colouring ,
dancing , table pool , basketball , cake making , dodgeball , baseball , board games such as conect 4 ,
as well as some karate all students that attend will recieve some private tution FREE during the week from
sensei rob this is a great fun week if the weather is good we will also go outside and play some fun games
there to if not then we will stay warm and dry and have fun indoors with rob and sue because of denmand we have opened up the summer camp to 2 weeks and also put on another camp
at the end of the first school term the cost is £13.50 per day which includes a lunch and drinks through
the day , places are limited to just 18 per day and need to booked in advance dates of both camps are below . spring camp april 16th - 20th ( mon - fri )
summer camp week 1, july 30th - aug 3rd ( mon - fri )

PRE GRADING COURSES dates and times for 2012 march 18th / sunday WIS cardiff , beg , orange + red belts 10 - 11pm
, yellow belt + 11 - 12.30pm
june 30th / saturday WIS cardiff , beg , orange + red belts 1.30 - 2.30pm
, yellow belt + 2.30 - 4.00pm
november 24th / saturday WIS cardiff , beg , orange + red belts 1.30 - 2.301pm
, yellow belt + 2.30 - 4.00pm the aim of theses courses are to run through your full syllabus that you need to know
for your grading , they are sessions that you need to attend to be able to take your
grading if you can not make theses session you will need to inform you club instructor
all courses cost £5 , there are other courses that you can attend at the end of each
month with the WSKO have a look at the events page or just click on WSKO course

WKGB SQUAD training dates for 2012 feb 5th / sun 10 - 1 pm cardiff WIS
june 10th / sun 10 - 1 pm cardiff WIS
aug 5th / sat 10 - 1 pm north wales plas madoc
aug 11th / sat 10 - 1 pm north wales plas madoc
sep 16th / sun 10 - 1 pm cardiff WIS
nov 11th / sun 10 - 1 pm cardiff WIS when attending any squad training sessions you MUST have with
you your license book with your up to date liscene slip , to attend
these sessions you need to be a minimum age of 11 years old and
a minimunm grade of 3rd kyu ( brown belt ) you also need to ask
your senior instructor if you can attend the price of this session is
normally about £5 but this will be payed for by your club
