Belt History
The history of the belt was so the Japanese could dye the belt as they progressed. So the belt was dyed from white through the kyu grades to black and they never got a new belt. club belt history
when st pats karate club was formed we were a member of the WSKA there belt system is above , in december 2008 the club changed associations to the VGKO there belt system was slightly different , but then in febuary 2010 the club finaly moved to the WSKO which is our present association and there belt sytem is the same as our original belt system , we also have a different belt system for our little samuai club this is aimed to give the students confidence , and to incourage them more while making it easier for them and there familys with the first to belts completly free of charge and also with it being half the price of a normal grading our main grading is just 3 times a year but the samurai gradings are 6 times a year , you can see the sytem below . | LITTLE SAMURAI | 4 - 8 YEARS OLD | | | white belt | | | orange belt | | | red belt | | | yellow belt | | 9th kyu | ORANGE BELT | | | green strip | | | purple strip | | 8th kyu | RED BELT | | | brown strip | | | black strip | | 7th kyu | GREEN BELT |
when a little samurai passes the 10 step samurai system they then move to 7th kyu green belt , they will recieve a free new karate suit and will be allowed to train with our main class
